Sew Many Joys

A Life of Family…Crafts…Joy…and LOVE

Category Archives: Ramblings & Discussions

It’s Been A While

I cannot believe how neglectful I have been. I must be honest, I have been busy. So many times, though, I wanted to write a post, and didn’t have the pictures ready or didn’t have longer than 2-3 minutes and I scrapped it. I would have had about 10 posts since the last one.

But instead of dwelling, I’m going to try to blog again-maybe share some of the fun artsy projects I am working on!

This morning, in my morning ‘blog reading’, I found the coolest thing. I regularly read Adventures in Babywearing and just love Steph’s style. She mentioned a fun giveaway on her friend’s blog for an Ipad2! Click on over and try to win-would be a neat gift! :)(See how random I can be…)

I’m working on projects related to the boys second birthday party, some church crafts (VBS and others), my ISpy quilt project, and even some sewing for the youth to sell stuff! I’m excited because it really has been busy in my crafting room. I have used so much of my spare time on them lately–what a gift! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a few pictures ready and soon there will be more on all the fun and joy that’s happening here at our house!

The sun is finally shining this morning, so I may have to take a peek to make sure it really is the sun, since it has been a while since we have seen it! Enjoy your Thursday…

Any Help

Hi Folks, Friends, Family…

I’ve searched the Internet with no luck and thought I would try my faithful friends–

Do any of you know of any Blog Designers that aren’t going to cost me {a lot of-}dollars to do a design a page? I simply want a header, a button, signature and possibly a background. Nothing fancy, nothing difficult, but a little above my abilities. I have been earnestly trying to design a header in my temporary photo-editing software and I was on the verge and I believe I have two days left before the software expires and I know I won’t finish it.

I have seen a few-some that do a very cute designs for like $30-$50 dollars. And at this rate, I’ll do anything but want to know all of my options before I would try something. Of course the prices jump up drastically after that–going to somewhere around $200+ย  and that’s really out of my price range.

As I work to clean my house up from my baking fun-I’ll hope someone has some great wisdom! ๐Ÿ™‚ I sure appreciate all the help I can get. ๐Ÿ™‚

I Do Care

I do care, folks. I know some people read this blog and I haven’t updated in such a long time.

I have three open tabs up now with starts of posts for you, since the beginning of LAST WEEK! Boy, oh boy, I’m bad at this.

But to be honest, the reason for the delay is simply, I have misplaced the device to get the pictures from my camera card and have lots of pictures of fun but no ability to put them on here! So I hope that in the next few days as I continue with some big cleaning, we’ll see this little converter and able to resume the fun!!!

April Showers….

April SNOW showers brings May ?????
We woke up to a half an inch of snow on April first….here in SOUTHERN Pa! It was a crime. I would have expected it in our ‘northern’ residence but not so much here. I am still holding on to hope that Spring has to come at some point. I did see 70’s within the next five days–what a change—35 today 70 by Tuesday! No need to worry-our closets and drawers are stacked for both seasons right now–because we aren’t sure which one we are in! It’ll be nice to move one of them out soon–let’s hope it is the winter stuff!

Just a few days ago, we were doing this:

And not to mention the oodles of ‘park pictures’ we have already–so it isn’t a wonder why we’re complaining about snow! ๐Ÿ™‚

I really don’t have much content to speak about-I started some craft things this week (HALLELUJAH) and I have some pictures to upload and edit so I can keep the content fresh and current!

Sending love to you readers–may April bring you lots of warmth, joy and peace! We’ll journey through it together….no matter the weather.

If I tell you..

would you believe me?

Life had taken a serious turn for CHAOTIC! I’m almost getting things back to normal, only for them to change again soon–but in a good way.

I have looked into some design stuff for my site. I have been fiddling with trying myself and testing the waters and then retreating a few hundred feet – so I think I may take the plunge and go for it. This will give me the opportunity to make this a little bigger.

It also helps that I have created my own space to do this in the house-you know, the crafting. A space that I can work without someone calling a dumpster on my dining room table will help tremendously!

So, while I return slowly from chaos-ville…I look forward to connecting and making myself a bigger ‘space’ on the web.

What are your plans for spring? Anything exciting happening out there?
Just was curious! I look forward to a time to renew my love for crafting and the great outdoors too!

‘Chat’ soon!

Home…there is nothing like it

Well, the last few days have been a blur of one long day!

It started late Wednesday night and continued until yesterday. And to be rather honest, today doesn’t feel all that ‘normal’ either. It sure has been a bumpy ride.

My little boy went into surgery-a planned surgery- but still so very stressful. The surgery itself went well, according to the surgeon-we’ll find out really what happened in a few weeks as dressings and such come off. But the recovery days at the hospital were a living nightmare.

My most darling husband stayed with him, while I went back and forth with our other son (who was not permitted on the floor because of flu/rsv season). So, it was quite a great juggling act. But my little darling didn’t understand why he needed to lay down and wanted ‘up’ and ‘out’ and ‘bye bye’ and all that he could muster up. Having given him the exhaustive list of medications, he still was not phased nor relaxing! I will give him this benefit, moving a kiddo’s room at 3a.m. isn’t relaxing either–so the fault for lack of sleep that night goes to the Hospital! But they gave Daddy a free meal voucher for it–how kind…your kid was up all night so you can go eat! I don’t think they are the same! ๐Ÿ™‚

But anyway-after fighting to not pick him up because it was strict doctors orders, they were left with no options in the middle of the night on the second last day there. They had to and as soon as Joel did, he was laying still/flat and out like a light. Since I had told that he would lay still and flat and all that for us in our arms about two days earlier, it was almost a big ‘told you so’. I know the doctor had his reasons, but he is 1. You can’t rationalize with a 1 3/4 year old kid!!!! He doesn’t care that it’ll make it easier in the end, it bothers him NOW. He managed to pull out the IV in his foot–that was so lovely taped and blocked-he still got it out. (And all without hands!) It was a lesson in survival for us all because my husband wasn’t sleeping there and I wasn’t here because I was receiving the updates!

The good news at the end of this -is that he did get home yesterday morning. (In Johns Hopkins record discharge time, ever!) And we have been trying to adjust to life here. He is fragile but wants to do everything he did before and the most important thing is that he actually does want to sleep–so that has been a good thing for him!

My blogging-and all other fun activities, had been pushed aside and may need a few more days before I can think about some of the started drafts. I look forward to sharing more soon! ๐Ÿ™‚

Meditations on this Sunday

Psalm 139

1 You have searched me, LORD, and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, โ€œSurely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,โ€
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my motherโ€™s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God! How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sandโ€”
when I awake, I am still with you.

19 If only you, God, would slay the wicked! Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
20 They speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your name.
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, LORD, and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
22 I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them my enemies.
23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Reflections of a Busy Week

This week has flown by us and before I could catch my breath it is Sunday already! We have done so much this week and yet I feel like not much was done. Strange feelings. Tomorrow marks half way through February already–isn’t time just zipping past us?! I’m feeling as if each day is a whirlwind and I’m just grasping to keep up.

So, this week, it has been fun and tiring and all around a pretty good week. The stress was a bit high with all the mishaps but it was still fun nonethless. Here is a basic recap:

We started the week making Valentine’s and finishing projects related to such things.

I worked a few days this week-always seems like I never get the full four–let’s hope this week has a full week!!

My sons’ language is exploding before our very eyes. Every word we say they attempt to say-it has been fun to watch them put things together. This morning, for example Kaiden informed me that ‘doggie sleep’ because Madison was asleep on the foot of our bed. His word for sleep is that sound of a person snoring–which at his age is so cute sounding! But each day we are learning words upon words and just loving talking with the boys in such neat ways!

We had the chance to see Leah, Emily & Janna this weekend. Our ‘Knoxville/Westfield’ girls were in York and it was cool to chat, play games and reminisce.

I took way too FEW pictures of this week. I usually have a few nice ones of each week and I don’t think I did a lot of photography this week. Maybe I was too busy enjoying the moments to get the camera out!

I did some sewing (be still my heart) and found great success in something that I have desperately wanted to try and have work and when it did-it was just a joyous moment!! I still stare at the piece in amazement that I waited so long to attempt it-thinking I would just bust my sewing machine with the effort that it would devastate me!

I have been scheming on my next set of projects with anticipation and joy as I see so much fun in this all.

This week has been a blast – intermixed with lots of stress and challenges! But aren’t they all? And really who doesn’t have challenges? It’s perspective!!!ย  I look forward to this coming week. All the adventures and joys. The challenges that make us stronger and the love and time I get with my family. I hope that I can savor the little things, don’t let the big things bog me down and allow for joy, love and peace to be shown for all I come in contact with!

Hoping my readers and friends have a joyous Valentine’s Week!

Things I Love Thursday

Well, I was ‘blog reading’ this morning for a few moments and I found a cool idea. Well it isn’t all that ‘new’ but it sure was a nice pleasant blog idea today!
So, here I go – Things I love:

1. My little boys and their help this morning making the last of the Valentine gifts.

2. My ability to let go if there are a few sprinkles on the floor – that’s what they made brooms for right?!

3. A real ‘date’ with my husband coming up!

4. Sewing and crafting like crazy. I’ve been letting out my inner ‘creative side’ again!

5. I made a good decision about my future yesterday and I’m THRILLED with my ability to discern this way.

6. Friends who are just amazing and wonderful.

7. Calling my grandmother. She is a great person to chat with!

8. Working out faithfully with my husband. I love that we can share this time together each early morning.

9. The sun is shining today…it is so good!!

10. The upcoming possibility of meeting some of my cousins (Joel’s cousins) and their family!

11. Hearing about my father-in-law’s reaction to coming home this past week! It brings great joy to hear others happy.

12. Quality mornings with my sons.

13. The upcoming ROSSDAY FRIDAY!!!!

I am so thankful for so much and I was glad someone else gave me the idea to write about things like this on a bright and sunny Thursday. I’m linking up with Things I Love Thursday.

One In A Million

Did you ever feel small? I do. Not in the physical sense, but in a whole earthly way. I sometimes get myself thinking (and well…it all goes from there!) and I just can’t help but realize the magnitude of what is stressing me out is so SMALL. I mean, let’s face it-I’m not a huge famous person, with tons of influence. I’m me. One small person in a world filled with people and things far bigger. I’m glad I’m me, don’t get me wrong, just had me thinking lately about the concept of how small we are.

Tonight I spent about 20 minutes tearing apart the endless cookie cutter stash. I have more cookie cutters than I probably imagined. I knew I had quite a few, but I have gotten them as gifts and all that fun stuff over the years. It is a nice collection. I spent 20 minutes searching for one tiny cutter amongst so many! I had to find one of the smallest ones I own-it is for a specific project. Amazing, isn’t it? How we spend time searching for just one small lost cookie cutter?! I have been studying David in the Bible and also some information on ‘lost sheep’ as a Biblical concept. I find it neat how it all has been weaving in and out of my life. I like it-

I’m sure that things are so important to you, when we sit back just aren’t as life-changing. Now, some are… I get that.

But take time to cherish those little things…for me it was the playing through my cookie cutters tonight. I had memories of when I used some of these – and some of how special the person was who gave me this particular one, etc.

We’re ‘one in a million’ but we’re special and important. Treat one another that way-it goes a great distance.

I’m sure glad you were here today-reading my random thoughts! Enjoy your Thursday!
